20 Minutes To Freedom

I encourage you to let go of the activities and habits that don't serve you in order to make space for the ones that do.
What is the secret to living a life full of solidity, freedom, and joy?
Many of us spend at least 20 minutes a day on activities that don't serve us. We lose ourselves by the extra time spent on overthinking plans, thoughts, and habits.

I’ve had many yogi friends and teachers tell me 20 minutes is the sweet spot in meditation. Why 20 minutes? In this short amount of time, your brain has settled and is processing less information. Completely blocking your thoughts may never happen. The purpose of meditation is easier than that. It is to cultivate calm and to give our thoughts less control. Our minds are constantly occupied with thoughts. You give your body a break when you sleep. Why not give your mind the same treatment?
Some people notice the benefits of a mindfulness meditation the first time. Many quit because they don't notice any changes quick enough. Be easy on yourself. Just like any other new hobby or interest in life, mindfulness takes practice.
Over time, your meditation practice will cultivate a richer mind/heart connection.
If you don't have time, that is exactly why I encourage you to meditate. This blog post suggests 20 minutes a day. However, even meditating for 10 minutes a day will improve concentration and productivity. I promise you that this is not the most difficult thing you will ever do in life.
